In Windows 7, you can share files and folders in a very easy way. The easiest way to share any files or folders is using the new Share with menu. This options you can see depend on the file you are sharing and the type of network your computer is connected to

Right-click the item you want to share, and then click Share with.


File Sharing

You can choose one of the following options

Homegroup (Read) - This options is used to shares the item with your entire homegroup—but people in your homegroup can only open the item. They cannot modify or delete it.

Homegroup (Read/Write) - This option is used to shares the item with your entire homegroup and here they can open, modify, or delete the shared content.

Specific people - This option opens the File Sharing wizard, which allows you to select individual people to share items with.

Sharing files and folders on a workgroup or a domain


You can Right-click the item you want to share, click Share with, and then click Specific people

In the File Sharing wizard, do any one of the following:
If your computer is on a domain, click the arrow next to the text box, and then click Find people. In the Select Users or Groups dialog box, type a name in the box, click Check Names, and then click OK.
If your computer is part of a workgroup, click the arrow next to the text box, click a name from the list, and then click Add.

File Sharing

Under the Permission Level column you can select one of the following options:
Read – In this mode recipients can only open the content but not modify or delete.
Read/Write – In this mode recipients can open, modify, or delete the content.

When you are finished adding people, click on Share. If you are not an administrator then you may prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, just type the password or provide confirmation.
After receiving confirmation that your item is shared, other people can use the shared contents
